Dormition of the Virgin

This dynamism and theatricality reach their apogee in the Dormition of the Virgin. Around her bed some apostles attend her and converse—one is the bishop da Costa—others lament while further figures contemplate the scene while leaning on a railing. This scene is meant to demonstrate faith and to view the practice of being faithful in a meta-visual way. This technique is something which Picardo and Juni will later use on other occasions.
