The Malaga parade of 1789

Malaga commemorated the ascent to the throne of the Spanish King Charles IV with great celebrations.

The festival book devoted to the parade organised by the guild of ropemakers (cordoneros) is a document without illustrations that meticulously recounts the event and how the deities and allegorical figures represented were dressed.

The main idea on which the masquerade was structured was the triumph of the Catholic Monarchs imposing the Christian religion over paganism.
